KIC Technology
Aside from personal excellence and integrity, King Industries Corporation (KIC) places a very high priority on the technology and processes used to streamline the project life cycle, to maximize the effectiveness of project management services and to optimize the communications process with KIC clients for higher productivity. We continuously review our internal tools and procedures, making appropriate improvements to ensure our clients and their projects always receive the very best care and support available in the industry.
After almost a decade operating, KIC’s diligence in improving internal project management technology has, in fact, helped us refine client communications throughout the project life cycle, maintaining stronger, more effective business relationships while optimizing our delivery of high-end project management services.
Utilizing the latest in AI advancements, our proprietary project management checklist, mobile conferencing and drone technologies… KIC’s intense scrutiny before, during and after a project allows us to offer ultimate responsiveness to our clients’ needs, maintaining a balanced workload while delivering optimal quality control, services and end products.
PROPRIETARY CONSTRUCTION/PM CHECKLIST
From feasibility studies and identifying funding sources, to resource and risk management, in-project financials and project closeout… KIC has perfected a proprietary checklist for seamlessly navigating the project management process. Our project managers utilize this checklist to make sure that all aspects of a project are investigated and documented when they need to be. Some items need to be investigated and/or completed before the project begins, and other items need to be completed during certain phases of the project. Each phase of the project is equally important including closeout.
Fully integrated into Procore, our project management checklist is exhaustive and prevents the oversight of any relevant facets of the project life cycle, no matter how small, that could adversely affect our scheduling and/or financial targets. No matter what type of job, every single active project has this checklist attached to it, which evolves with the project and drives performance goals and reporting.
If a specialty project is being managed, we make sure to add any other relevant items to the list and document them in Procore. KIC will upload this checklist into our clients’ Procore portal for each project being managed, and will keep project progress updated weekly and noted on the checklist.
ZOOM
ZOOM is KIC’s video conferencing app of choice. Diverse in features, robust in functionality… ZOOM offers a single consistent enterprise experience that allows us to spontaneously record meetings of any type and upload those .MP4s to Procore. Face-to-face meetings can be held, managed and recorded from conference rooms and/or mobile phones with a downloaded app.
This technology facilitates loose, open forum discussion as it is needed, and reflects the importance KIC places on effective communication, internal or external. To this end, King Industries utilizes all of its technology (Procore, ZOOM and PM Checklists) to hold more formal weekly meetings with all of its project managers, routinely assessing all active projects and ensuring their status and job details are loaded into Procore.
DRONE TECHNOLOGY
They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and that is never so true as it is during the assessment phase of engineering and construction projects. From disaster recovery projects to more typical public works and environmental projects, getting “eyes in the sky” can be just as important as getting “boots on the ground”.
To this end, KIC is devoting time and financial resources to the development of a fleet of SwitchBlade-Elite drones, with high-range photogrammetry & inspection packages. Our package includes long-range encrypted telemetry, and RTK precision GPS system, with an EO-Sony RX1R photographic payload.
Our drones will survey and photo-document not only “before and after” project status and conditions, but also provide an added measure of quality control throughout the life of a project. When needed, the technology even allows for the “overlay” of captured images with plans and maps, to aid in strategic planning by providing more precise photographic views of infrastructure as it aligns with environment.
A lot goes into operating drones commercially, from the development of flying and photography skills to acquiring the necessary licensing and certification for regulatory compliance. King Projects is currently developing this capability and will be operational in 2020. With the training and licensing of our President/CEO (Jady King) and our Senior Project Manager (Randall Camp), statewide services will be available in 2020. Until then, KIC can work with third party drone services on projects on an “as-needed” basis.
